The Band

Space Whale is a psychedelic music project founded and directed by MC Squared (Gerry Kamin) who writes and produces most of the music. The current lineup of the band features:

MC Squared (Gerry Kamin) on guitar and backing vocals - Gerry is a guitar master from the Jimi Hendrix / Jimmy Page school of guitar. He decided to become a musician at the age of 4 after being hypnotized by the Beatle's first appearance on the Ed Sullivan show. He has since been influenced by all kinds of music dating back from the 1960's through today and his current favorites include such diverse bands as Sonic Youth, African drummer Tony Allen, and Phish. Music is his philosophy and his religion and when you experience his free form guitar explorations live, you will understand what this means.

Tony Medeiros on vocals and drums - Tony is a drummer's drummer and one of the most soulful vocalists around. We started with him just playing drums before we realized that we had one of the finest singers in Los Angeles on our hands. After attempting a gig with him doing lead vocals and using a different drummer, we quickly came to the conclusion that his drumming was too good to try and replace. So that's where we now stand, with Tony handling the lead vocals and the drums. Drummers who are in the audience at Space Whale shows have been known to leave the premises in a daze with their mouths agape after witnessing Tony (although we have been advised that this is a condition that afflicts many drummers anyway).

Nori Iji on bass - Nori is the newest addition to Space Whale. Hailing from Japan, he is a member of the new generation of Japanese musicians who have absorbed and mastered western styles while still maintaining a distinctive and unique approach. His sensitivity and explosiveness on the bass add just the right element to the Space Whale sound.
